Joseph P. Colligan started the Colligan & Company Insurance Agency in the summer of 1929 on West Berry Street at the time of the Depression when the country was in economic crisis. He was able to support his wife and ten children with the continued growth of the business. In 1976, he passed away while still being the active principal of the agency at the age of 75. Stan Colligan, the agency's current principal and Joseph's son, joined the agency in 1967 after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. Working side by side with his father for many years, Stan learned the importance of maintaining great relationships with clients and doing business with integrity and passes these lessons on to his staff to this day. The importance of staying professionally educated has always been of utmost importance to Stan as well. He currently maintains both CPCU and CIC designations, taking many classes in all areas of insurance each year.
