Our agency started in 1996 in Papillion. Ken Summerfield started this agency and we now have 5 employees to serve you. American Family Insurance was started by Herman Wittwer, a struggling insurance salesman who dreamed of selling auto insurance to Wisconsin farmers. Confident he had a good idea, Herman opened Farmers Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in 1927. Our company's name changed in 1963 to American Family Mutual Insurance Company. Today, we offer auto, home, life, umbrella, business, farm & ranch insurance products. As a mutual insurance company, our customers and owners are one and the same.
