Wilks Insurance Agency… was founded in 1955 by William C. Wilks. “Bill” was a celebrated athlete who helped to capture a state basketball championship in 1949 for Hamilton High School and went on to start for Ohio State's basketball team and play starting quarterback for the Buckeyes' football team under the direction of legendary coach Woody Hayes. Bill returned to Hamilton after graduation from the Ohio State University and serving two years of military duty in Europe. The agency has truly been a family affair from the start, as Bill and his wife Patty were the firm's first two employees. Bill sold policies while Patty handled clerical and support duties at the office. The agency's first office was in downtown Hamilton's Rentschler Building. The agency moved to its current historic North Second Street home in 1965.
